St. Mary’s Bayou

St. Mary’s Bayou is a large marsh area. You can spend all day exploring here. This is a great site for birding & fishing. When the winds are high, this is a good site to paddle as there is some protection from the wind. Take a GPS as it is easy to get lost in the maze of bayous.

Getting There:

From Matagorda head south on FM 2031 across the bridge. The trailhead is on the east side of the road just past Snapper’s Restaurant and Bar.
Coordinates: 28.66398, -95.96236

Parking & Facilities:

There are no bathroom or other facilities at this site. Park on the west side of the road on the shoulder and do not block any driveway entrances.
