Rawling’s Cut

Rawling’s Cut provides easy access to East Matagorda Bay and Condo Cove. This is one of the most popular access sites for kayak fishing in the area. Once you paddle out through the cut, it opens up into condo cove in the southwestern corner of east matagorda bay. The bottom is mostly hard mud with some sand over the top and there are a couple of reefs in the area.

Getting There:

From Matagorda head south on FM 2031 across the bridge. The access site is just past Rawling’s Bait Camp on your left side.
Coordinates: 28.62607, -95.97071

Parking & Facilities:

Park on the wide shoulder on the west side of FM 2031 near the put in. Make sure you do not block any driveways. There are no other facilities at this site.

Don’t ever change it. It’s what makes the beach great. Lower traffic. Less vehicles! Down from Tulsa. Been coming 25 years to Matagorda County. Love it.

Who’s complaining about breach permits I understand but ppl need to realize Matagorda beachfront is very special to those who know it and it’s not port A or Galveston

Wish i could move to Matagorda for good. I love it there. Thank you so much for the update

Always like your reports and I see your beautiful fur baby is enjoying it to😀

Also love the site and the beach reports. Thanks for that!

Once the tide goes out driving is fine, we were just there for 2 days without any problem.

Grew up on Matagorda Beach and it's not always been strictly 4x4....in the Dat a car could run up and down it all day everyday with no problem.

We are visiting for a couple days. Are ranger type vehicles (gator, golf cart etc) allowed? And do they have to be road approved?

Used to live in Bay City snd we went to Matagorda a lot .That was in 1962 -64.
