Parker’s Cut

Parker’s Cut is a great place for fishing, birding or just a peaceful paddle. Put in on the Colorado River near the LCRA sign. Make a short paddle across the river to the earth dam in Parker’s Cut. Stay to the left of the fence as this provides the easiest path for portaging your kayak, but you can portage on either side of the fence. The portage is approx 500ft to the bayous of West Bay.  Watch out for rattlesnakes during the portage. Use your paddle to poke around in the grass ahead of you to keep from stepping on one.

Getting There:

From Matagorda drive south on FM 2031 across the bridge. Go past all the houses on the Colorado River. Shortly you will see a pull off on the side of the road just in front of the blue Matagorda LCRA sign.

Is there a route map for it?

What annual is it now? Maybe 17 or 18?

Hi...will you have another beach report any time soon? We are visiting next week and have not been able to get our SUV on the beach for at least a year. We have a four wheel drive now and are in hopes we can get on the beach next week. Thanks!

Do they still have the fireworks show after the Matagorda Lighted Boat Parade?

I remember when we went , fun !

Jason wish we could go!!
