Parker’s Cut

Parker’s Cut is a great place for fishing, birding or just a peaceful paddle. Put in on the Colorado River near the LCRA sign. Make a short paddle across the river to the earth dam in Parker’s Cut. Stay to the left of the fence as this provides the easiest path for portaging your kayak, but you can portage on either side of the fence. The portage is approx 100 yards to the bayous of West Bay. Be aware that the earth dam is most likely federal property but all other dry land in this area is private property.

Getting There:

From Matagorda drive south on FM 2031 across the bridge. Go past all the houses on the Colorado River. Shortly you will see a pull off on the side of the road just in front of the blue Matagorda LCRA sign.

Can anyone give me an update on beach conditions, I was planning I’m going down PINS for a fishing trip this weekend but am concerned about the coastal flood advisory....now I’m considering going to Matagorda beach or Freeport...I appreciate any info...plan to arrive Friday morning and stay through Sunday morning

How long will it be like this?

Very beautiful but high tides... timing is everything.
